Where

Did She

Go?

Since An In-Person Town Hall

It’s the question on the minds of thousand of Tennesseans: “Where on Earth is Marsha Blackburn?” She hasn’t held an open and in-person townhall since being elected Senator (and for a considerable time before that, too). But she’s been more than willing to attend lavish fundraisers hosted by dark money billionaires or fly across the country on private jets chartered with taxpayer dollars. We don’t know for sure where she went or why she disappeared. After all, she wouldn’t even attend the recent debate against Gloria Johnson. That doesn’t mean, however, that we don’t have our theories. Join us as we attempt to solve the perplexing mystery of Missing Marsha.

Potential Hiding Spots

#1: Taxpayer-Funded Private Jets

For someone who is all about “fiscal responsibility,” Marsha Blackburn sure doesn’t have any problem using your hard-earned money to furnish lavish, luxurious travel for herself. She has spent tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars to charter jets to travel across Tennessee and the country. One of the flights she took might have lasted just 20 minutes, and when she used a private jet to travel to D.C., there were 9 direct, commercial flights to Washington (and that’s not even counting ones with layovers). Maybe she’s holed up in a Learjet or Gulfstream to dodge her constituents.

#2: Schmoozing with Big Pharma

There are plenty of restaurants in D.C. known as spots to hobnob with elected officials. Maybe Marsha is sitting at a bar in one of them and sharing a laugh with representatives from opioid manufacturers, who have been prolific donors to her campaign—they’ve poured over $100,000 into her war chest over the years. At the same time, she has vigorously pushed for legislation that fueled the opioid epidemic and opposed bipartisan measures to stop the flow of fentanyl. Sipping on some cold cocktails certainly sounds easier than facing the mothers and fathers who have lost children because of her kowtowing to Big Pharma.

#3: On the Senate Floor, Voting Against FEMA Funding

Anyone who’s played hide and seek knows that hiding in plain sight can be an effective strategy. Maybe an eagle-eyed review of C-SPAN Footage would reveal her hiding in a corner of the Senate Chamber. It’s the same place where she recently voted against FEMA funding just days before Hurricane Helene barreled through Tennessee, leaving a trail of unimaginable destruction in its wake. If that isn’t a sign that she doesn’t have Tennesseans’ interests at heart, we don’t know what is.

Possible Motives

#1: She Feels Bad About Selling Out Our Public Schools

Throughout her decades in Washington, Marsha has voted to slash billions in funding for our public schools, block support for rural school systems, and let private charter companies like Hillsdale (you know, the college whose President called our teachers "dumb") operate with reckless abandon. Maybe she realized that using the future of our children as a political football isn't right.

#2: She’s Ashamed of Killing Protections for IVF

Marsha Blackburn has a well-documented history of being anti-family; she fought against paid family leave, described access to contraception as unconstitutional, and blocked a child tax credit that would have saved Tennessee families thousands of dollars every year. But one of her most egregious votes took place this past summer, when she killed protections for IVF treatment that thousands of people rely on to start their families. This shouldn’t be a political issue; it should be somehting we can all unite around, but clearly Marsha doesn’t agree.

#3: She Regrets Her Ties to CCP-Connected Lobbyists

Marsha Blackburn isn’t alone in meeting with industry experts and special interest advocates; it’s something that members of both parties do. What should be concerning, however, are the linkages that some of her supporters and donors have to the Chinese Government. On multiple occasions, Marsha has received campaign contributions from organziations registered to lobby for the CCP. Even more alarming are the soft on China stances she has taken. From currency devaulation to joint military exercises, Blackburn has taken countless votes (sometimes even opposing the majority of her own party) that would make Beijing happy, but the one that takes the cake has to be when she opposed stopping CCP takeovers of American businesses. Whose side is she really on?
